Globalization is defined as the breakdown of cultural, social and economic barriers that have divided societies for centuries. When the colonization of territories began to sprout in the 14^th century, the term globalization was used for the first time. The trade of goods and traditions led into the fusion of new cultures, and brought several benefits for societies. Today, globalization is commonly referred to as the creation of a single market that involves the economy of every single country. Although several countries are involved in the globalization process, a few countries, specially Middle Eastern countries, have had a lack of participation in the market.

Middle Eastern countries consider globalization a threat, because it can break their traditions and culture, and turn them into a market economy. The lack of globalization can be noticed in society, by the way woman are prohibited to dress in a certain way, and the racism and discrimination that exists in many of these countries. Several societies have started to advocate against globalization, and have actually wanted to start campaigns to contain the phenomenon.

Personally, I consider globalization a process that has brought several benefits to countries that needed help. Third world countries have higher economic development because of international investment, and foreign social help. United Nations has brought solutions to global conflicts between countries, and has created stability in several societies. Technology has allowed for a more rapid communication process, which facilitates the lives of millions of individuals. If globalization did not exist, it would be impossible to have many of the innovations we have today. Although it might create problems for societies, the advantages out weight these problems by far. If we allow globalization to spread, we will be creating a single, unbounded society with higher tolerance and better chances of innovation and success through a competitive market system.
